A Waukegan woman was cited after she and two young children were injured following a crash into a median wall on Interstate 94 near Wadsworth, state police said.

The Newport Fire Protection District and Illinois State Police responded around 11:35 a.m. Sunday to Interstate 94 at the 5.5 mile marker near Wadsworth for a vehicle crash with injuries.

Illinois State Police Troop 3 troopers arrived and found a single-vehicle crash south of Wadsworth Road.

They learned a gray 2008 Pontiac G6 was traveling eastbound on Interstate 94 in the left lane when it left the roadway.

The Pontiac struck the left wall after the driver lost control of the car.

The driver was identified as Luezarn Cooper-Voss, 24, of Waukegan.

Cooper-Voss and two children, a two-year-old boy and a three-year-old girl who are also Waukegan residents, were injured in the incident, state police said.

The three were transported by ambulance to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with non-life-threatening injuries.

Cooper-Voss was issued citations for driving while license suspended, driving too fast for conditions, failing to properly secure a child and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

State police did not say what they believe led to the crash.
