Investigators have arrested a McHenry man after they say he was found in possession of child pornography videos following a joint investigation with the Illinois Attorney General’s office.

David P. Wojtkiewicz, Jr., 39, was arrested at his residence in the 3700 block of West Clover Avenue in McHenry on Monday.

The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Program (ICAC) reported receiving a cyber tip that a McHenry resident had been downloading child pornography, police officials said.

The information led to an investigation conducted by the McHenry Police Department and the Illinois Attorney General’s Office.

Investigators conducted interviews and collected interviews, police officials said.

The McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office reviewed the case and approved charges of 10 counts of possession of child pornography, a Class 2 felony.

Police officials said they could not release any additional information yet due to the ongoing investigation.

A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court alleges Wojtkiewicz possessed at least 10 sexually explicit videos.

All of the videos showed children younger than the age of 13. Some of the videos were as long as 41 minutes.

Wojtkiewicz was transported to the McHenry County Jail following his arrest.

McHenry County Judge Michael Chmiel denied prosecutors’ petition to detain Wojtkiewicz pending trial and released him following a court hearing Tuesday.

Wojtkiewicz was ordered to have no contact with children, surrender his passport, not use the internet besides for work and have his internet work use monitored by court services.

Wojtkiewicz was also ordered to obtained a sex offender evaluation and follow the recommendations.
