Police say a 54-year-old man has been located safe after he was reported missing and endangered from Algonquin on Friday.
The Illinois State Police activated an Endangered Missing Person Advisory for Daniel Winters, 54, of Algonquin, early Saturday morning.
The Algonquin Police Department said they were seeking the public’s assistance in locating Winters, who went missing on Friday.
A family member, who last spoke with the man last Monday, filed a report with the police department.
Winters was at his residence in the 800 block of Red Coach Lane in Algonquin around 7:30 a.m. Friday.
He was later spotted at the Pingree Road Metra station in Crystal Lake around 9:50 a.m. the same morning.
Winters intended to visit the Pacific Garden Mission on Canal Street in Chicago but never arrived.
Police reported that Winters did not own a car or a cell phone and was not carrying any forms of identification.
He also has a condition that places him in danger. Police said he requires medication and could become non-verbal and sedentary without it.
He was last seen wearing a black shirt and dirty slack pants in 39-degree weather with worn shoes.
“Officers have been working tirelessly to locate him safely which include checking phone records, purchases and many more. Help us and Daniel’s family bring him home safely,” the police department said in a statement.
The police department said in an update late Monday afternoon that Winters was located safe. He was in the process of being reunited with his family.
“The Algonquin Police Department would like to extend a big thank you to all community members who have shared the post and expressed their care and concern,” the department said.
