The coroner has released the identity of a 25-year-old man who was killed in a high-speed rollover crash that left a second man critically injured near Antioch Sunday evening.
An autopsy performed Monday showed Guy Seelye, 25, of Antioch, died as a result of blunt force injuries from a vehicle crash, according to Lake County Coroner Jennifer Banek.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Antioch Fire Department responded around 10:45 p.m. Sunday to the area of North Avenue and Deep Lake Road in unincorporated Antioch.
Lake County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli said deputies received a call for a single-vehicle traffic crash with injuries.
Deputies arrived and found Seelye deceased on the ground near the wreckage.
A preliminary investigation shows a 2022 Ford F-350, driven by Seelye, was traveling westbound on North Avenue.
Covelli said it appeared the Ford was traveling at a high rate of speed.
The Ford left the roadway for an unknown reason as the vehicle traveled westbound. It is unclear what caused Seelye to lose control.
The Ford struck several traffic signs and rolled over several times before striking a tree.
Seelye exited the vehicle and collapsed before being found dead by emergency crews.
A passenger in the vehicle, a 27-year-old Antioch man, was critically injured in the crash.
He was transported by ambulance to Advocate Condell Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
Alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash, Covelli said.
The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Team.
