A man was flown to the hospital after he suffered serious injuries in a motorcycle crash near Cary Saturday evening, fire officials said.
The Cary Fire Protection District and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded around 6:25 p.m. Saturday to the area of Three Oaks Road and Newbold Road in unincorporated Cary.
Cary Fire Protection District Communication Specialist Alex Vucha said crews responded to a 911 call for a motor vehicle crash involving a motorcyclist.
Fire crews arrived within minutes and found a single-vehicle crash in the roadway.
A male rider was down on the ground suffering from a serious head injury, Vucha said.
Vucha said paramedics requested a medical helicopter due to the extent of the man’s injuries.
The victim, a man in his 70s, was transported to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in McHenry to the LifeNet medical helicopter base.
The man was transferred from the ambulance to the helicopter and flown to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
Further details on the cause of the crash were not immediately available.
