A 29-year-old man was found dead in a Round Lake Park home from a suspected self-inflicted wound following a domestic disturbance that prompted the response of a SWAT team.

The Round Lake Park Police Department responded to a 911 call around 8:40 p.m. Tuesday in the 300 block of Brierhill Drive.

Police officials said it was reported to be a domestic disturbance with a suicidal subject present.

Officers arrived and heard what sounded like a single gunshot come from the home.

The area was secured and the Northern Illinois Police Alarm System Emergency Services Team (NIPAS EST) was requested.

Police officials said the SWAT team was requested to assist with checking on the well-being of the sole occupant.

NIPAS EST responded and eventually conducted a search of the home, which resulted in them finding a person deceased inside.

“This is believed to be an isolated incident and the public is not at risk,” police officials said.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office was notified just after 1:15 a.m. Wednesday following the discovery of the body.

The coroner’s office said the subject, a 29-year-old man, suffered a fatal gunshot wound prior to the SWAT team entering the home.

An autopsy was performed Wednesday and the death is believed to be a suicide.

The investigation is ongoing and the Round Lake Park Police Department said they are working in conjunction with the coroner’s office.
