Two elderly women were trapped inside an SUV, which also had dogs in it, after the vehicle rolled over during a collision that sent two people to the hospital near Ringwood Thursday.

The Wonder Lake Fire Protection District and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded around 2:05 p.m. Thursday to the area of Barnard Mill Road west of Ridgeway Road in unincorporated Ringwood.

Wonder Lake Fire Chief Mike Weber said crews received a report of a vehicle crash with injuries and entrapment.

Firefighters arrived to find two vehicles involved west of the intersection near John Hogan Twin Oaks Farm.

Weber said two elderly women were trapped inside the rolled-over Honda and required extrication.

The McHenry and Richmond fire departments were called to the scene to assist.

The adult male driver of the Land Rover, who was the sole occupant of his vehicle, was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Weber said the two elderly women were extricated from the Honda, which crews had to stabilize, and one of them required transport to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The second woman in the Honda declined transport to the hospital. No one involved suffered serious injuries, Weber said.

Two dogs were also in the Honda but they were uninjured. The sheriff’s office assisted in standing by with them.

The Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) was activated for change of quarters units to cover Wonder Lake’s fire station during the incident, Weber said.
