A 54-year-old man died after arriving at the hospital after he was found unresponsive in a hot tub at a residence in Lindenhurst Sunday evening.

The Lake Villa Fire Protection District and Lindenhurst Police Department responded around 5:55 p.m. Sunday to the 2400 block of Plum Tree Road in Lindenhurst for a report of a water rescue.

A male subject was found unresponsive in a hot tub outside a residence, according to the Lake County Coroner’s Office.

The man, a 54-year-old who resided at the home, was unconscious and not breathing. CPR was started.

An ambulance transported him to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

He was pronounced dead in the emergency room of the hospital.

The coroner’s office said it is believed a medical event had led to the incident.

The man had significant medical issues and there were no signs of trauma.

A final cause and manner of death is pending further medical studies, the coroner’s office added.
