No injuries were reported but residents were left displaced from their home after a fire broke out in Lake in the Hills Sunday evening, fire officials said.
The Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District and Lake in the Hills Police Department responded around 7 p.m. Sunday to the 100 block of Woody Way in Lake in the Hills.
Firefighters arrived to find a single-story single-family residence with moderate smoke showing from the rear of the building.
Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Chief John Knebl said crews initiated an aggressive fire attack on the home.
Firefighters discovered the fire extended into the void space between the garage ceiling and the exterior roof.
The fire was deemed to be extinguished within 45 minutes, Knebl said.
The Algonquin–Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District was assisted by the Cary Fire Protection District, Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department, Fox River Grove Fire Protection District, Huntley Fire Protection District
The cause of the fire is being investigated and the home has since been secured.
Knebl said no injuries were reported and the house was deemed uninhabitable. A damage estimate was not available.
