No injuries were reported after a Lake County sheriff’s detective squad car was struck by another vehicle on Route 120 in Grayslake Tuesday evening, officials said.
A Lake County sheriff’s detective was traveling westbound on Route 120 around 6:50 p.m. Tuesday.
The detective was approaching Battershall Road in Grayslake, according to Lake County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli.
A Honda Pilot attempted to exit from a private driveway on the north side of the roadway.
Covelli said the Honda drove into the path of the detective and the detective attempted to swerve but was unable to avoid the collision.
The Honda struck the passenger side of the squad car.
The Grayslake Fire Protection District responded due to there being airbag deployment.
Neither driver was injured, Covelli said.
The Grayslake Police Department responded to handle the investigation of the crash.
Covelli said the driver of the Honda was subsequently cited for failing to yield from a private driveway.
