A man was hospitalized after being seriously injured in a farm tractor accident at a tree nursery near Wonder Lake Thursday morning, fire officials said.

The Hebron-Alden-Greenwood Fire Protection District and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded around 7:48 a.m. Thursday to the 6500 block of Miller Road in unincorporated Wonder Lake for a call of a person injured.

Hebron-Alden-Greenwood Fire Protection District Chief Thomas Linneman said it was reported that a farm tractor accident occurred on the property of a tree nursery.

The Wonder Lake Fire Protection District and Mercyhealth MD-1, a field physician, were requested to assist.

A LifeNet medical helicopter was also requested to land at Galt Airport nearby but the nearest helicopter was not available.

Paramedics found a male patient who was in serious condition, Linneman said.

Linneman said the man had been accidentally struck by a tractor.

Paramedics transported the victim to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in McHenry due to no medical helicopters being available.

Linneman said it is unknown whether a medical helicopter later transferred the man to another hospital for further treatment.
