A suspect was arrested after a pedestrian was struck by a hit-and-run vehicle on Route 47 in Huntley and transported to the hospital, court records show.
Paul D. Hoerer, 48, of Huntley, was charged with aggravated battery in a public place, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, leaving the scene of a personal injury crash, failure to give info or render aid and reckless driving.
A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court said Hoerer and another man got into an altercation around 7:40 p.m. on April 22.
The incident happened on the shoulder of Route 47 at Ackman Road in Huntley.
Hoerer struck the victim with his Ford Explorer, damaging the victim’s vehicle and causing the victim to fall into his own car.
The victim, a St. Charles resident, suffered bodily harm and was transported to the hospital.
The complaint said Hoerer fled the scene and was later located at his home in Huntley by police officers.
Hoerer made no attempt to report that he had hit a pedestrian with his vehicle, the complaint said.
Huntley Deputy Police Chief Linda Hooten said the victim suffered minor injuries.
Hoerer was released from custody following his arrest.
Court records show he refused to sign his conditions of pre-trial release, which ordered him to not violate any criminal statute, appear at court dates, have no contact with the victim and follow other statutory release conditions.
He is scheduled to appear in court again on June 26 for a preliminary hearing.
