Serious injuries were reported after a juvenile and three others were transported to the hospital following a multi-vehicle crash that left one of the victims trapped near Marengo.

The Marengo Fire and Rescue Districts and Union Fire Protection District responded around 1:32 p.m. Sunday to the intersection of Route 176 and Peterson Olson (P&O) Road in Seneca Township east of Marengo.

Marengo Fire and Rescue Districts Communication Specialist Alex Vucha said it was reported to be a multi-vehicle crash with entrapment.

Firefighters arrived on the scene within five minutes and located a three-vehicle crash at the intersection with heavy damage.

Paramedics began triaging five people involved while firefighters simultaneously extricated one victim from their vehicle, Vucha said.

Four ambulances were dispatched to the scene. The Woodstock, Huntley, and Crystal Lake fire departments assisted.

Three adults and one minor were transported to local hospitals. They had injuries ranging from minor to serious, Vucha said.

One person involved did not report any injuries while at the scene.

The McHenry County Sheriffโ€™s Office is investigating the cause of the crash.
