A clerk was transported to the hospital after he was pushed into a bathroom during an armed robbery at a gas station in Deer Park Monday morning.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded around 4:45 a.m. Monday to the Circle K Shell gas station, 20020 North Rand Road in Deer Park, for a report of an armed robbery.

The clerk of the gas station called 911 and informed sheriff’s telecommunicators he had just been robbed, according to Lake County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli.

Sheriff’s deputies arrived and spoke with the victim.

The victim said the offender entered the gas station armed with a pistol, Covelli said.

The suspect pushed the clerk into a bathroom and the offender then stole cigarettes.

The offender fled on foot eastbound from the gas station. Sheriff’s deputies were unable to locate him.

Sheriff’s evidence technicians responded and processed the scene for evidence, Covelli said.

The robbery remains under investigation by sheriff’s detectives.
