A woman died and two others were injured after they became trapped in a rollover crash while exiting Interstate 90 near Huntley, state police said.
The Illinois State Police and Huntley Fire Protection District responded around 8:40 p.m. Thursday to the area of Interstate 90 and Route 47 in Huntley for a vehicle crash with injuries.
A spokesperson for the Illinois State Police said the single-vehicle crash occurred on the westbound ramp to northbound Route 47.
The Subaru Legacy sedan was driven by a 56-year-old Roselle woman and had two passengers, a 90-year-old Huntley woman and an 85-year-old Huntley man.
All three occupants were reported to be trapped inside the car, which rolled over, according to fire department radio traffic.
Firefighters extricated them from the car and multiple ambulances were called to the scene.
The 90-year-old woman was transported to Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The 56-year-old woman was also transported to Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital.
The 85-year-old man was transported to Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin.
The female driver and male passenger’s conditions were not released.
A witness who was behind the vehicle said the Subaru was in the left lane and crossed to the right lane and right shoulder before driving into the ditch and rolling over several times. The car never braked, the witness added.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Illinois State Police.
