A manhunt was underway Wednesday evening after a shooting in Waukegan resulted in a pursuit that ended at a Lake Bluff golf course with the suspects fleeing on foot.

The Waukegan Police Department and Waukegan Fire Department responded around 5:20 p.m. Wednesday to a report of a shooting.

A gunshot victim was found at the Waukegan Fire Station #1, 1101 Belvidere Road.

It is unclear where exactly the shooting occurred and further details on the condition of the victim were not immediately known.

A short time later, officers located a possible suspect vehicle and a police pursuit ensued, according to witnesses.

The pursuit ended at the Lake Bluff Golf Club in the area of Route 176 and Green Bay Road. The vehicle, a Kia Sportage, became disabled on hole 10.

At least four suspects fled on foot from the car, officers at the scene reported.

An “urgent alert” sent out by local officials around 7:05 p.m. said the scene was active and the suspects were at large on foot. Residents were asked to call 911 to report suspicious activity.

Numerous police departments responded to the scene along with canine units to assist in the search. A police drone was also seen being used.

Two suspects were located and taken into custody within approximately 40 minutes of the chase ending, officers reported.

Two other suspects were still being sought as of 7:35 p.m., according to local officials in a follow-up alert, which cautioned residents to remain on alert for suspicious activity.
