Two juveniles were charged and released after a stolen vehicle, possibly involved in a Waukegan shooting, led officers on a high-speed chase that ended at a Lake Bluff golf course.

The Waukegan Police Department and Waukegan Fire Department responded around 5:20 p.m. Wednesday to a report of a shooting.

Waukegan Deputy Police Chief Scott Chastain said the incident occurred near 8th Street and Victory Street.

A gunshot victim arrived several blocks away at the Waukegan Fire Station #1, 1101 Belvidere Road.

The victim had been shot in the arm. They were transported to the hospital and have since been released.

An initial report of a second person shot was inaccurate, Chastain said.

Chastain said a vehicle, which “may or may not” have been related to the shooting, fled from officers in Waukegan and a pursuit ensued.

The chase was terminated, at which time the North Chicago Police Department pursued the car into Lake Bluff.

The suspect vehicle, a Kia Sportage, crashed and became disabled on hole 10.

At least four suspects fled on foot from the car, officers at the scene reported.

An “urgent alert” sent out by local officials around 7:05 p.m. said the scene was active and the suspects were at large on foot.

Residents were asked to call 911 to report suspicious activity.

Numerous police departments responded to the scene along with canine units to assist in the search. A police drone was also seen being used.
