Heavy smoke filled the area after a trailer became fully engulfed in flames at the construction site of The Clove development in Buffalo Grove Friday afternoon.

The Buffalo Grove Fire Department responded around 2:30 p.m. Friday to The Clove construction site, 202 McHenry Road.

Fire officials said they received a report of a large garbage trailer on fire.

Responding firefighters reported seeing a smoke header in the distance.

They arrived and confirmed a large open-top semi-truck dumpster was fully involved with flames and smoke, fire officials said.

The fire was directly impinging on the seven-story multi-family residential building that is currently under construction.

Firefighters deployed two hose lines as well a ladder truck master stream to quickly extinguish the blaze and prevent it from spreading to the building.

Fire officials said other firefighters worked to quickly evacuate the building.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
