A McHenry County Judge has barred a woman accused of driving drunk when she killed her sister in Woodstock earlier this weekย from attending the funeral,ย media is reporting.
Yaraldy Avilez Estrada, 22, of Woodstock, was denied pretrial release and not allowed to attend the funeral of sister Belen Estrada, 29, of Woodstock, who died in a Lake County Hospital Friday, the Northwest Herald is reporting.
Yaraldy Avilez Estrada is charged with a criminal class 4 felony charge aggravated dui resulting in bodily harm and criminal class 4 felony charge of aggravated dui while license is suspended for her role in the crash that took place on Dean Street near the corner of Gayle Drive, court records show.
Those charges are expected to be enhanced at a later date, authorities said.
Yaraldy Avilez Estrada is accused of being behind the wheel ofย a 2003 Toyota Carolla heading southbound on Dean Street when it exited the left side of the roadway, officials said.
The Corolla re-entered the roadway, crossed over the northbound lane, exited the roadway again, then crossed over Gayle Drive as it continued southbound, authorities said.
The vehicle entered a yard at the southwest corner of the intersection, rolled over, and struck a tree before coming to rest on its roof, officials said.
Yaraldy Avilez Estrada was wearing her seatbelt while Belen Estrada was not, authorities said.
Authorities said at the time of the crash that speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.
The two were transported from the scene via helicopter to Advocate Condell Medical Center where Belen Estrada died the next day.
A preliminary coronerโs investigation, including a review of medical records, indicates that Belen Estrada died from blunt force injuries suffered in the crash, Lake County Coroner Jennifer Banek said.
Friends of Belen Estrada said she left behind two children, ages 5 and 7. A GoFundMeย account has raised over $6,000 for the family.
