The National Weather Service has issued a thunderstorm watch Friday morning due to severe storms rolling in from the west capable of producing high winds, hail and tornadoes.
The line of severe thunderstorms moving into northern Illinois is driving in from the west at a rate of 50 mph, the National Weather Service is reporting on their website.
This storm brings with it the threat of damaging winds, hail, and possible tornadoes, the National Weather Service is reporting.
The greatest threat to the Lake and McHenry County areas will be between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., officials said.
CBS News Chicago is reporting on their website this storm has a high risk of damaging winds, a medium risk to produce a tornado, and low risk of producing hail and flooding.
This is the second major storm to hit the Chicagoland area this week.
Storms were expected to slam Lake and McHenry counties Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
However, the path of those storms moved to the north, mostly missing the area.
Some wind damage was reported in Round Lake Beach, while scattered power outages were reported throughout northern Illinois.
