The cause of a fire that destroyed a classic car and a boat in McHenry is under investigation, authorities said.

The McHenry Township Fire Protection District was called to the 1600 block of O’Shea Court in McHenry Township at about 1 p.m. Monday for a boat and car on fire, said Battalion Chief Ryan Mastandrea.

A classic Chevrolet Nova and a Malibu ski boat were on fire when firefighters arrived on the scene, Mastandrea said.

The year of the car was unknown, Mastandrea said.

The two items were completely destroyed in the blaze, Mastandrea said.

The fire was contained to the boat and the car and did not spread to a nearby home.

The fire was out in about 10 minutes and the scene was cleared by 2:15 p.m., Mastandrea said.
