A Chicago man is facing a multitude of charges including attempting to run down a police officer following a lengthy police incident in Woodstock, authorities and court records show.

Anthony Torres, 26, is facing felony counts of aggravated assault to a Woodstock police officer, aggravated fleeing and eluding police, reckless driving, obstruction, and criminal trespass to vehicles following an incident early Sunday morning on numerous roads in Woodstock, court records show.

Torres is also facing multiple felony counts of aggravated assault, aggravated fleeing and eluding and aggravated restraint for causing danger to sheriff deputies with the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.

Torres is also facing multiple moving violations for disobeying a stop sign, having unsafe tires and improper lane usage.

Woodstock Police said officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Forest Avenue for a domestic incident at 3:41 a.m. on June 2.

Officers were advised one of the subjects, later identified as Torres, had left the area in a vehicle that did not belong to him, authorities said.

Officers located Torres driving the vehicle and, upon attempting to stop him, he drove off, authorities said.

Torres continued driving through the area where officers were posted near Forest Avenue and continued to flee from the scene in the vehicle when officers attempted to speak with him.

At one point, Torres reversed the vehicle towards standing officers, causing them to take evasive action to avoid being struck, authorities said.

Woodstock Officers ceased following Torres, and later learned the McHenry County Sheriffโ€™s Office had located the vehicle Torres was driving and attempted to stop him on U.S. Route 14 near Washington Street/Route 120.

Officers responded to the area to assist the McHenry County Sheriffโ€™s Office with traffic control as sheriff officers navigated their incident.

Court documents show an officer was in danger of being run down by Torres when she was was out of her car and attempting to deploy stop sticks, court documents read.

A news alert from McHenry County Sheriff said Route 14 was shut down from Kishwaukee Valley Road and Washington Street between 7:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. because of the incident.

Torres was ordered detained until trial by McHenry County Judge Michael Chmail Monday afternoon, court records show.
