One person was injured in an accident that started when a distracted driver slammed his car into a pickup truck on Route 53 near Long Grove, causing it to roll over, officials said.
Illinois Police officials said a preliminary investigation shows the driver of a purple 2005 Toyota Coupe was driving distracted while heading northbound on Illinois Route 53 at 3:32 p.m. on June 4 and failed to notice a 2022 white Ford pickup truck slowing down in front of him.
The front of the Toyota hit the rear of the Ford before losing control and swerving into the grass.
The driver of the Ford pickup lost control of the vehicle and rolled over, coming to a stop on its roof on the roadway, authorities said.
The driver of the Ford was transported by rescue crews to an area hospital with injuries, authorities said.
His condition is unknown.
The driver of the Toyota reported no injuries at the scene, authorities said.
Route 53 was shut down while the accident was cleaned up.
It’s unknown if citations were issued to the driver of the Toyota.
