A 76-year-old Ingleside woman was killed following a four-vehicle, chain-reaction crash on the Tri-State Tollway near O’Hare, authorities said.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the woman killed in the crash at about 4 p.m. Friday as Bernice Pawilan, 76, of Ingleside.
Illinois State Police said the preliminary information shows the four-vehicle, rear-end, chain-reaction crash happened on I-294 southbound near Golf Road in Des Plaines.
Three others involved in the crash were transported to local hospitals with varying injuries, state police officials said.
The Illinois State Police didn’t give any indication as to what caused the crash.
Three left lanes were temporarily closed while the scene was cleared and investigated.
The lanes were reopened by 8:30 p.m.
This investigation is still ongoing, authorities said.
