The 10th-seeded Crystal Lake Tigers took home the Illinois High School Association Class 3A state baseball title Saturday, beating Lemont by a final score of 3-2.
It’s the first baseball title for the Central Tigers, officials said.
They were trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the sixth but tallied 3 runs to take the lead from Lemont.
The Tigers held on to win in the 7th, knocking off 4th-seeded Lemont.
The Northwest Herald reports head coach Cal Aldredge was in his first year of coaching the Tigers and the team won their last 14 games en route to winning the state championship.
