Two people were injured during a crash on Route 12 in Lake Zurich, authorities said.

The Lake Zurich Fire Department responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident with entrapment at the intersection of Route 12 and Miller Road at 9:42 a.m. Tuesday, Lake Zurich Fire Chief David Pilgard said.

Upon arrival, authorities saw a two-vehicle motor vehicle crash occurred and one of the vehicles was on its roof, Pilgard said.

The upended vehicle had a patient entrapped inside, Pilgard said.

Authorities said fire crews stabilized the overturned vehicle and extricated the patient in about 15 minutes.

The extricated patient and the driver of the second vehicle were transported to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in North Barrington, Pilgard said.

The conditions of the drivers are unknown at this time.

The Lake Zurich Fire Department brought two engines, two ambulances, and four fire department staff members to the scene, Pilgard said. A third ambulance from the Wauconda Fire Protection District was requested to assist at the scene.
