The Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District and officers with the Round Lake Beach Police announced they are on the scene of a small chlorine leak near Rollins Road, authorities said.

Round Lake Beach Deputy Police Chief Ryan Rodriguez said the small leak was discovered at about 11 a.m. Friday at a water treatment facility in the 1600 block of Wood Street.

He said evacuations are not deemed necessary at this time, but added area schools and businesses have been alerted about the situation.

Hazmat crews are on the scene handling the situation, Rodriquez said.

A mutual aid box was sounded bringing in fire departments from Grayslake, Gurnee, Buffalo Grove, Libertyville, Lake Forest, Wauconda, Newport, Zion, Wheeling, Mundelein, McHenry, Lake Bluff, Long Grove, Barrington, Antioch and Deerfield have been called to the scene to assist. Lake Villa Fire has also been called in as a change of quarters in Round Lake.
