The National Weather Service is advising hot and humid weather is coming Sunday that could cause heat indexes to spring over the dangerous 100-degree mark.

Saturday is expected to remain a seasonably warm day with comfortable humidity, officials said, but muggy conditions arrive Sunday and continue into the upcoming week, weather officials said.

Periodic chances for isolated to scattered showers with some storms are forecast during the hot and humid stretch, officials said.

A chart released by the National Weather Service said heat indexes could reach the mid-to-upper-90s Sunday before climbing to over 100 degrees Monday. Those conditions are expected to remain the same throughout the week and into Friday.

People unable to escape the heat during the week are urged to see out cooling centers in Lake County and McHenry County.
