A Waukegan woman is facing up to 50 years in prison for running over a Kenosha man while under the influence of a controlled substance, then dragging him under her car for several blocks, court records show.

Sheila L. Tennin, 38, of Waukegan, is facing class D felony charges of homicide by vehicle while under the use of a controlled substance and hit-and-run resulting in death, Kenosha County court records show.

She is also charged with a class H felony charge of knowingly driving a vehicle without a valid driver’s license, court records show.

Tennin remains held in Kenosha County jail on $50,000 bail, court records show.

She has been ordered to not consume any alcohol or controlled substances, not possess any drug paraphernalia, and not drive without a valid driver’s license if she can post bond, records show.

She is also not allowed to have any contact with family members of the victim.

Troy Wohlgefahrt, 52, of Kenosha, tripped while jogging through a crosswalk in the 5800 block of Sheridan Road on June 8 when he was run over by Tennin’s vehicle as she turned left onto Sheridan Road, WTMJ is reporting.

Wohlgefahrt was dragged under Tenninโ€™s vehicle for nearly a half-mile from where he was initially struck.

Tennin told Kenosha Police she heard โ€œa loud thump underneath her vehicleโ€ as she made the turn onto Sheridan Road, but didnโ€™t stop because there was โ€œa lot of trafficโ€ behind her.

Wohlgefahrt was pronounced dead at the scene, court records show.

Tennin was taken into custody at 12:08 a.m. on June 9 and made her first court appearance on June 10, records show.
