Two people were injured in a crash with entrapment Monday evening in Antioch, authorities said.

The Antioch Fire Department was called to the intersection of Route 173 and Deercrest Drive at about 5:42 p.m. Monday for an accident with entrapment, authorities said in a news release.

Upon arrival, crews found two cars with heavy damage in the intersection, with one vehicle having extensive damage to the driver’s side compartment.

Crews shut down the roadway quickly, authorities said, and extricated one patient from the vehicle by removing the driver’s side door.

Two patients were transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, authorities said. Their condition at the time of transport was not released early Tuesday.

Additional help was brought in from the Lake Villa Fire Protection District, authorities said.

Antioch police blocked the roadway while Antioch Towing cleared the intersection, authorities said.
