Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish a garage fire before it extended into a house in Huntley Thursday afternoon, fire officials said.
The Huntley Fire Protection District responded around 12:17 p.m. Thursday to the 8900 block of Pearsall Drive in Huntley for a report of a structure fire.
Firefighters arrived on the scene within minutes but initially did not see any smoke or flames visible, according to Huntley Fire Protection District Communication Specialist Alex Vucha.
A homeowner advised responding firefighters of a fire inside the closed garage attached to the two-story house.
Firefighters quickly deployed several hose lines while simultaneously confirming all occupants had escaped the house, Vucha said.
Interior fire crews located an active fire inside the garage while searching the house.
An aggressive fire attack was performed and the fire was extinguished within 10 minutes, Vucha said.
Firefighters prevented the fire from extending further into the house.
Vucha said overhaul operations and investigations continued for an additional 60 minutes.
One resident was home when the fire broke out. “Thankfully, no injuries were reported, and the house remains habitable,” Vucha added.
The Algonquin-Lake in the Hills, Woodstock, Marengo, Hampshire and Fox River Grove fire protection districts assisted during the incident.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Huntley Fire Protection District.
