A man was hospitalized after he was found lying on the roadway following a crash between a box truck and a semi-truck on Route 14 in Woodstock Tuesday morning.

The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District and Woodstock Police Department responded around 10:41 a.m. Tuesday to the intersection of Route 14 and Washington Street for a vehicle crash with injuries.

Firefighters arrived within five minutes and observed a collision involving a full semi-truck and a mid-sized box truck.

A male victim was also found lying on the ground near the vehicles, according to Woodstock Fire/Rescue District Communication Specialist Alex Vucha.

Paramedics quickly tended to the victim on the ground, who was determined to be the passenger of the box truck.

He was transported by ambulance to Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital with moderate injuries, Vucha said.

The male driver of the box truck was evaluated by paramedics but declined any medical treatment.

The male driver of the semi-truck refused to be evaluated at the scene.

Vucha said neither vehicle was transporting any hazardous materials.

Fire crews remained on scene for an additional 90 minutes to assist with cleanup and oversee the vehicle removal process.

The Woodstock Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash.
