A man was pronounced dead after he was located by firefighters who were searching a home that caught fire in Fox Lake Thursday morning.
The Fox Lake Fire Protection District and Fox Lake Police Department responded around 7:38 a.m. Thursday to the 200 block of Lippincott Lane in Fox Lake for a report of a structure fire.
Firefighters arrived within three minutes and found smoke showing from the single-story residence.
It was reported that one person was possibly still inside the home, according to fire department radio traffic.
Firefighters pulled hose lines and began conducting searches of the residence.
The victim was located in the home and brought outside to paramedics.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Lake County Coroner’s Office.
Heavy flames could be seen coming out of the roof of the home and firefighters worked for approximately an hour to get the fire under control.
Multiple area fire departments were called to the scene. Fire investigators also responded to conduct an investigation.
The coroner’s office said they responded and the victim was identified as an adult male who was in his 50s.
The coroner’s office said an autopsy was expected to be conducted Thursday afternoon. The man’s identity is being withheld pending notification to next of kin.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
