An elderly man was flown to the hospital with serious injuries after he fell down a flight of stairs at a residence in Cary Thursday evening.

The Cary Fire Protection District responded around 10:11 p.m. Thursday to the 100 block of East Ross Avenue in Cary for a 911 call of a fall victim.

Cary Fire Protection District Communication Specialist Alex Vucha said paramedics arrived to find an elderly male victim had fallen down the stairs.

The man had fallen down a full flight of stairs in the residence.

He suffered serious injuries in the incident and a medical helicopter was requested.

Vucha said the LifeNet medical helicopter landed in a field between Kaper Drive and Industrial Drive near the Cary Village Hall.

An ambulance transported the victim to the landing zone and he was transferred to the helicopter.
