Police have made three arrests after suspects on six different occasions in the past three months stole merchandise from the Lululemon store in Lake Forest.

Lake Forest Deputy Police Chief Kevin Zelk said Monday that there have been six retail theft incidents at Lululemon, 680 North Western Avenue, over the last three months.

The Lake Forest Police Department recently made several arrests in connection with the thefts and “continues to make progress in identifying more offenders,” Zelk said.

Interim Police Chief Michael Lange said his officers are “diligently investigating” each of the thefts at Lululemon.

They are putting together evidence to make more arrests in the future.

“We’ve tracked the same offenders to thefts in other communities. With the help of these agencies, and Lululemon Loss Prevention, our officers are working hard to identify and arrest those responsible for all of these thefts,” Lange said.

Two female offenders walked into Lululemon in Market Square on June 7 and gathered several items of women’s clothing before leaving the store without paying for the items, Zelk said.

Officers were able to identify the vehicle involved in the theft, a gray Alfa Romeo SUV, which led to the identification of one of the offenders.

That offender, Cassandra C. King, 32, of Chicago, was charged on June 24 with one count of retail theft, a Class 3 felony, Zelk said. Her female accomplice has not been publicly identified.

A warrant was issued for King and she was arrested on July 6 in Forest Park. She was released from custody after a First Appearance Court hearing.

King is scheduled to appear in court again on July 31.

On Friday, police were alerted to a retail theft in progress at Lululemon around 3:55 p.m. involving three female offenders.

Officers responding were informed that the offenders left the store in a black vehicle with a temporary registration plate, Zelk said.

Officers located the vehicle traveling westbound on Deerpath Road from Green Bay Road and attempted to stop it.

Zelk said the driver of the black vehicle was unable to flee due to traffic in the area, which allowed officers to surround the vehicle and block its escape.

Four female suspects were taken into custody and approximately $3,000 worth of stolen merchandise was recovered.

The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office approved charges of retail theft, a Class 3 felony, against Ashaya L. Garrett, 21, of Chicago, and Kayla N. Chambers, 20, of Dolton.

The two remaining female subjects were released without charges.

Garrett and Chambers were transported to a First Appearance Court hearing on Saturday and were released from custody.

Garrett is scheduled to appear in court again on July 26 and Chambers is scheduled to appear in court again on July 30.

Investigation of the other four thefts, which resulted in more than $11,000 in merchandise loss, is ongoing and arrests are pending, Zelk said.
