A North Chicago man was taken into custody after authorities say he fled from officers in Zion and a police pursuit began over the border in Wisconsin early Thursday morning.
The Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, Police Department said its officers were notified around 1:45 a.m. Thursday about a vehicle that fled from an attempted traffic stop conducted by the Zion Police Department.
Zion officers reported the vehicle’s information and reported it showed reckless driving behaviors consistent with impaired driving.
Pleasant Prairie officers observed the vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Green Bay Road near 85th Street, police said.
Officers attempted to stop the vehicle but it again fled from law enforcement. A pursuit was initiated.
Deputies from the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department successfully deployed stop-sticks, causing both front tires to deflate.
Police said the vehicle became disabled shortly after at Washington Road and Green Bay Road in Kenosha and a high-risk stop was conducted.
The driver, a 29-year-old North Chicago man, was taken into custody.
The Kenosha Police Department also assisted in the incident.
The man was charged with fleeing and eluding, recklessly endangering safety and operating while intoxicated 1st offense, as well as cited for additional traffic offenses.
