The Lake County coroner has released a dashboard to the public showing data and trends on homicides, overdose deaths and suicides in the county.
Lake County Coroner Jennifer Banek announced the release of the Lake County Coroner’s Office Data Hub on Friday.
The coroner previously launched two dashboards that track trends in suicides and unintentional overdoses.
The new data hub combines the previously released dashboards into one and also incorporates homicide data.
The development process spanned the past year in conjunction with the Lake County Geographic Information System.
The hub incorporates data from 2020 through 2024 and will be updated on a weekly basis as investigatory information becomes available.
Data on the dashboard can be queried by year and town. The site also includes a visual mapping feature.
“We feel it is important that our residents and partner agencies have data that is accurate, readily available, and in as close to real-time as possible as it relates to death trends throughout our county,” Banek said.
“This electronic presentation will help better illustrate where in the county we need to concentrate our efforts regarding preventable deaths,” Banek said.
The mapping data does not show exact addresses of death locations but instead the general area.
The data hub can be found on the Lake County Coroner’s Office’s website.
