An elderly man was seriously injured and flown to the hospital after he fell at a park in Fox River Grove, fire officials said.

The Fox River Grove Fire Protection District responded around 5 p.m. Saturday to Lions Park, 102 Beachway Drive in Fox River Grove, for a fall victim.

Fire officials said paramedics arrived to find an elderly male who had fallen in the park.

Paramedics decided the man required treatment at a Level 1 trauma center for his injuries.

A LifeNet medical helicopter was notified and responded to the call.

The helicopter landed nearby at Algonquin Road Elementary School, 975 Algonquin Road in Fox River Grove, fire officials said.

An ambulance transported the victim to the landing zone at the school.

He was transferred to the helicopter, which then flew the man to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

Fire officials said the man suffered serious injuries but they were not life-threatening.
