A man and a woman were both flown to the hospital with serious to critical injuries after a double motorcycle crash near Woodstock Saturday afternoon.

The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded around 2:29 p.m. Saturday to the intersection of Garden Valley Road and Franklinville Road in unincorporated Woodstock for a vehicle crash with injuries.

Woodstock Fire/Rescue District Communication Specialist Alex Vucha said firefighters and paramedics arrived within six minutes and observed a serious crash involving two motorcycles.

Crews established a safe working area around the scene and began providing patient care, Vucha said.

Multiple ambulances were called to the scene.

Vucha said an adult male and an adult female suffered injuries ranging from serious to critical.

Two medical helicopters were requested to the incident to transport the two victims.

A LifeNet medical helicopter met an ambulance at the helipad at Northwestern Medicine Hospital in Woodstock.

A LifeStar medical helicopter landed at Creekside Middle School in Woodstock and met a second ambulance with the other victim.

Both victims were airlifted to Level 1 trauma centers for treatment, Vucha said.

A third victim at the scene, an adult female, refused medical treatment.

The sheriff’s office reported the intersection was shut down for the crash investigation for several hours.

The roadways were reopened just before 9 p.m. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office, which has not released information on the incident yet.
