A three-vehicle crash left one car rolled over and resulted in Route 31 between Prairie Grove and McHenry shut down for nearly two hours Wednesday afternoon.
The Nunda Rural Fire Protection District, Prairie Grove Police Department and McHenry Township Fire Protection District responded around 2:19 p.m. Wednesday to the area of Route 31 and Gracy Road in Prairie Grove.
Nunda Rural Fire Protection District Communication Specialist Alex Vucha said it was initially reported to be a rollover crash with entrapment.
Paramedics and firefighters arrived within minutes to find a collision involving two vehicles just north of the intersection.
One vehicle had rolled onto its side in the roadway while the other vehicle was located in the ditch, Vucha said.
All occupants had exited their vehicles prior to the fire department’s arrival.
Vucha said the two vehicles were occupied by adult female drivers who were evaluated for their injuries but refused medical treatment.
A third vehicle, a cargo van, drove off the roadway to avoid the collision.
Five occupants were in the cargo van but none of them reported any injuries and declined to be seen by paramedics, Vucha said.
Route 31 was shut down in both directions for nearly two hours, causing heavy traffic delays in the area.
The Prairie Grove Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash.
