Police are warning residents after at least 10 suspects descended on neighborhoods in Libertyville early Wednesday morning and burglarized vehicles before fleeing police in four different cars.

The Libertyville Police Department said they responded around 2:20 a.m. Wednesday to multiple locations for reports of suspects entering and rummaging through parked cars.

Officers arrived at one of the locations and approximately 10 male black offenders were observed running into waiting vehicles before fleeing the scene, police said.

An alert issued to area police departments said “at least” 10 suspects were involved.

The suspects struck in the 1000 block of Dawes Street, 1100 block of Tamarack Lane, 1100 block of Tracy Lane, 1100 block of Sussex Lane, 1200 block of Trinity Place, 1200 block of Abbey Court and 1100 block of Garfield Avenue.

Officers responded to the 1100 block of Sussex Lane for a report of a stolen vehicle.

The 2018 Subaru Hatchback had been left unlocked with the key inside, police said.

The Subaru had a GPS tracker and was tracked before being found abandoned on Interstate 94 near the Lake Forest Oasis.

A Dodge Durango was also located unoccupied in close proximity to the Subaru. It was determined to be stolen from DuPage County.

Officers responded around 6:30 a.m. to the 1100 block of Garfield Avenue in Libertyville for a report of a stolen 2023 Subaru.

That Subaru had also been left unlocked with the key inside, police said.

It was equipped with a GPS tracker and tracked to Maywood where it was located abandoned.

The Libertyville Police Department said they remind residents to lock their vehicles, remove any valuables and remove the keys from their vehicles.

Police also urged residents to ensure the doors to their garages and residences are locked, especially at night.
