A medical helicopter rushed a man to the hospital after he fell 30 feet from a tree he was working on in Algonquin Wednesday afternoon.

The Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District responded around 2:10 p.m. Wednesday to the 200 block of Souwanas Trail in Algonquin for a report of a person who fell.

Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Chief John Knebl said a man fell approximately 30 feet from a tree while working.

Rescue crews arrived on the scene in around three minutes and found the man – who Knebl said was approximately 40 years old – on the ground requiring medical attention.

“Fire crews immediately treated the patient and advised dispatch to contact a medical helicopter for transport to a Trauma Center,” Knebl said.

A LifeNet medical helicopter was dispatched, and a landing zone was set up at a soccer field behind Saint Margaret Mary Catholic School at 119 South Hubbard Street in Algonquin.

Firefighters stabilized the man and met with flight medics at the landing zone, Knebl said.

He was airlifted to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville for treatment.

“At this time the condition of this patient is unknown,” Knebl said.
