A woman was transported to the hospital after a two-vehicle crash that nearly left a pedestrian struck and a brick monument sign damaged near Crystal Lake Saturday morning.

The Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded around 9:55 a.m. Saturday to Edgewood Road and Bay Road in unincorporated Crystal Lake for a vehicle crash.

Fire crews arrived on the scene and reported two vehicles involved with moderate damage.

Both vehicles had come to rest off the roadway on the northwest corner of the intersection following the impact.

The female driver of a Chevrolet Impala, who was the sole occupant of her car, was transported by ambulance to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in McHenry with minor injuries.

The Chevrolet Impala had collided with a brick monument sign for the Cobblestone Woods neighborhood, knocking part of it down.

Two women were in the second vehicle, a Chevrolet Traverse. Neither of them were transported by paramedics.

A bystander reported a man who was walking in the area when the crash occurred was nearly struck by the vehicles when they left the roadway.

ComEd responded to the scene to inspect a utility pole that was damaged.

It is unclear which vehicle was at fault or what led to the crash.
