Three juveniles were among four injured and transported to the hospital after a four-vehicle crash on Randall Road in Algonquin Wednesday afternoon.

The Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District and Algonquin Police Department responded around 1:20 p.m. Wednesday to the area of Randall Road and Corporate Parkway for a report of a vehicle crash with injuries.

Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Chris Bremner said crews arrived to find a four-vehicle crash with heavy damage.

The incident occurred in the northbound lanes on Randall Road just south of Corporate Parkway.

Bremner said the crash appeared to be a chain reaction rear-end style collision. It involved passenger cars.

Firefighters used extrication equipment to open a door to one of the vehicles to remove two juveniles, Bremner said.

A total of four ambulances, including from Huntley and Carpentersville, were called to the scene.

The Algonquin Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash. The department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
