A woman was flown to the hospital with serious injuries after she was ejected in a two-car crash that left four others injured in unincorporated Woodstock Sunday afternoon, fire officials said.
The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded at 2:35 p.m. Sunday to Route 47 and Charles Road in unincorporated Woodstock for a report of a vehicle rollover crash with injuries.
Paramedics arrived on the scene within six minutes and found a serious two-vehicle crash on Charles Road just east of Route 47, Woodstock Fire/Rescue District Communication Specialist Alex Vucha said.
“The crews immediately began triaging five patients, one of whom had been ejected during the rollover,” Vucha said.
Four people were transported to area hospitals with minor injuries.
A LifeNet medical helicopter was called for a woman who was ejected from a vehicle, Vucha said.
She was airlifted to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with serious injuries.
“We appreciate the assistance of the Hebron-Alden-Greenwood Fire Protection District and the Wonder Lake Fire Protection District, who provided an additional ambulance and crew for our incident,” Vucha said.
As of 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Charles Road between Route 47 and Raffel Road remains closed while the sheriff’s office investigates the crash.
The sheriff’s office has not yet released a statement on the incident.
