Authorities say a woman in her 30s died after she either fell or jumped from the 10th floor of a high-rise apartment building in Waukegan Wednesday evening.
The Waukegan Police Department and Waukegan Fire Department responded around 9:45 p.m. Wednesday to the Lakeside Tower Apartments, 200 Julian Street, for a report of an injured person.
Emergency crews arrived to find a female victim who was unconscious and not breathing.
A LifeNet medical helicopter was called but was unavailable due to already being assigned to another incident.
Lifesaving measures were performed and she was rushed by ambulance to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
The woman was pronounced dead just after 11 p.m. Wednesday in the emergency room.
The Lake County Coroner’s Office was notified and responded. An autopsy was expected to be performed Thursday.
The coroner’s office said the woman was in her mid-30s. Her identity is being withheld pending notification to next of kin.
The coroner’s office said it is not confirmed yet whether the woman fell or jumped from the 10th floor of the building.
Waukegan Deputy Police Chief Scott Chastain said the case is still under investigation but there were no signs of foul play found.
Additional information is expected to be released Friday afternoon on the incident.
