The coroner has released new information after a 34-year-old woman died when she plunged from the 10th floor of a high-rise building in Waukegan Wednesday evening.

The Waukegan Police Department and Waukegan Fire Department responded around 9:45 p.m. Wednesday to the Lakeside Tower Apartments, 200 Julian Street, for a report of an injured person.

Emergency crews arrived to find a female victim who was unconscious and not breathing.

A LifeNet medical helicopter was called but was unavailable due to already being assigned to another incident.

Lifesaving measures were performed and she was rushed by ambulance to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

The woman was pronounced dead just after 11 p.m. Wednesday in the emergency room.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office was notified and responded.

Lake County Coroner Jennifer Banek identified the victim as a 34-year-old Waukegan woman.

An autopsy was performed Thursday and preliminary results showed the woman died as a result of blunt force injuries. Banek said the woman jumped from the building.

Waukegan Deputy Police Chief Scott Chastain said the case is still under investigation but there were no signs of foul play found.

Banek said the coroner’s office urges anyone who is struggling emotionally to call 988 at any time for help.
