The quick actions of residents in calling for help resulted in firefighters being able to quickly extinguish a fire that damaged a townhome in Grayslake, authorities said.

The Grayslake Fire Protection District responded around 12:45 p.m. Wednesday to the 500 block of Pheasant Court in Grayslake for a report of a structure fire.

Grayslake Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Ian Mandigo said crews arrived to find light smoke coming from the second floor of a townhome residence.

The initial responding fire companies performed an offensive attack and contained the fire to a single room.

Mandigo said a search was conducted of the involved unit and the adjacent units.

All residents were accounted for or not home at the time of the fire.

No injuries to residents or firefighters were reported, Mandigo said.
