Residents were displaced from their home after a fire broke out and left the residence with significant damage near Antioch Sunday morning, fire officials said.
The Antioch Fire Department responded around 9:47 a.m. Sunday to the 26100 block of West Marie Place in unincorporated Antioch for a report of a structure fire.
Antioch Fire Department Lt. Raeanne Fisher said crews arrived to find an active fire in a two-story, single-family residence.
Smoke was seen coming from the front of the structure and flames were coming out of the rear of the structure, Fisher said.
The incident was upgraded to bring additional fire crews to the scene due to the extent of fire. The area also does not have fire hydrants nearby.
Fisher said fire crews worked for approximately three hours to extinguish the fire and conduct overhaul operations — extinguishing hidden fires.
The residence was deemed uninhabitable due to the damage. A damage estimate was not immediately available.
No residents or firefighters were injured in the fire, Fisher said.
The Newport, Round Lake, Lake Villa, Richmond, Fox Lake, Grayslake, McHenry, Pleasant Prairie and Salem fire departments assisted during the incident.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Antioch Fire Department and other assisting agencies.
