Police say they are still searching for three gunmen who opened fire and shot three young men who were standing in the drive-thru of the McDonald’s in Park City over the weekend.

The Park City Police Department and Gurnee Fire Department responded around 1:30 a.m. Sunday to McDonald’s, 3249 Belvidere Road in Park City, for a report of a shooting.

Park City Police Chief Kenneth Stoves said officers learned three males in their mid to late 20s had been shot.

A friend drove two of the victims to Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan for treatment before paramedics arrived.

The third victim went to the apartment complexes near the McDonald’s at 7th Street and Knight Avenue where paramedics found him, Stoves said.

He was transported by ambulance to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

Park City officers, along with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, were seen investigating the shooting outside of the restaurant.

Crime scene tape was placed around much of the parking lot and drive-thru of the McDonald’s.

Police photographed clothing and a pair of shoes for evidence that were lying on the ground in front of one of the drive-thru windows.

Stoves said Tuesday that all three victims have since been released from the hospitals after being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

One of them was shot twice — once in the hand and once in the thigh. The other two were each shot once.

Investigators recovered a handgun and a rifle from the shooting scene, Stoves said. The two guns were not believed to have been discharged in the shooting.

Stoves said an investigation showed there was a disagreement earlier in the evening with the three victims and three other people.

Those individuals followed the three victims to the McDonald’s, Stoves said.

As the three victims were ordering food while on foot in the drive-thru, the three suspects all opened fire on the victims, striking them, and then fleeing the scene on foot.

Stoves said approximately 19 rounds were fired in the shooting. Some of the gunfire struck the McDonald’s building but no one inside was injured.

No suspects are in custody yet, Stoves said, adding that the victims have been uncooperative in the investigation.
